Mayrouba is a popular summer resort town, famous for its apple orchards, fresh climate,

Free-covered meadows, and numerous fresh water springs. The town is located at

1300m altitude, near the ski centers of Faraya and Faqra. The town has an amphitheater, where festivals and carnivals are held several times a year. Historically, Mayrouba is famous for a battle that took place in the early 19th century between the Lebanese and the army of Ibrahim Pasha (the eldest son of Mohammed Ali, governor of Egypt under the Ottoman empire). The eroded, sculptured rocks on the surrounding hillsides were used as fortresses that helped the Lebanese to defeat Ibrahim.
