Dear Hikers

All through the years since 2002, we have walked together, had fun together, lived Lebanon together and we are proud to announce to you that until now we have travelled together more than 3574 Km for more than 300 hiking trips and 6400 hikers have walked with us!

Baldati hiking club has and is still serving Baldati ultimate aim that is to meet and gather responsible people to strive together for sustainable development of our communities.

For the past years, Baldati hiking club has strived to keep prices competitive and is still committed to offer the best service with a Non-profit background.

All though 2009, we have kept our prices between the lowest prices among the Lebanese market, despite the rise of diesel prices, the quality of buses you requested, the risks of booking cancellation we faced many times and all other related office expenses.

For the New year 2010, and to still be able to carry on with the services we provide with the same quality that we always maintain to offer, Baldati proposes to share the additional incurred cost and will raise hiking prices to 30,000 LBP for regular hikers and to 25,000 LBP for card holders.

In addition, Baldati team is working on enhancing the membership card benefits but this is still a surprise under preparation!

Members will have always the priority to participate to , workshops, trainings, and special events.

Knowing that Baldati Hiking Club is considered one of the sustainable programs on Baldati that one day will be able to contribute in  the runing cost of our projects ,and whenever the hiking club generates profits , it goes to support non funded projects on baldati.org such as equipments, human resourses , administrative costs.

Thank you for your understanding and support ,wishing you an adventurous 2010 year with Baldati.

Best regards

Sarita Salameh

Kfarhabou one of the calmest and most peaceful villages of North Lebanon. Baldati hikers spent an awesome day exploring the wildside of the village accompanied by the guide Adel Azour. During the hike right after the lunch break hikers celebrated one of their friends' birthday in full nature.
A big 'Happy Birthday' to Jihane. '3a2bel el 100'

 Keep hiking !!!

Hikers started their walk from Hadchit, they went down to the Sacred Valley which was very quiet and beautifully painted with colors of Autumn. They passed by our Lady of Qannoubine then to the monastery of St. Antonios Qozhaya.
It was getting dark when "wouhoush' Baldati began climbing the challenging hills and reached Ehden right on time. THUMBS UP !!!
Our guide Georges  Zgheib is amazing, he knows all the trails in the Bsharre region. We thank him a lot.

Keep hiking !

' Hey we must keep the place clean. Adonis is watching us '
I heard someone walking behind me saying this by laughing yesterday.

Colorful nature, awesome trails and breathtaking views were the main characteristics of yesterday's hike from Yahchouch to Janneh in which Baldati hikers walked easily a distance of 10.2 km. With joy and laughter they spent their day exploring the area.
 Was Adonis watching them ?

We want to thank Mr. Chady Ghajar for being our guide.

 Keep hiking !

Hiking is essentially walking that is considered to be one of the most perfect forms of exercise for your body. You can get a chance to spend some quality time together with the Mother Nature, so it also provides a mental health antidote.
When it comes to enlist the health benefits, then the list may go endless consisting of several mental as well as physical health benefits, such as losing excess pounds, preventing heart disease, decreasing hypertension or high blood pressure, improving and maintaining mental health, slowing the aging process, preventing osteoporosis, improving the quality of the air we breathe, preventing and controlling diabetes, improving arthritis, relieving back pain, gaining positive attitude, kindness, empathy.

Blisters are certainly the most common problem for HIKERS. Lack of conditioning and improper caring for your feet while hiking are the major cause of these avoidable pains. Blisters are caused by:

  • Heat - generated from your foot rubbing against your sock which is being pressed by your boot.
  • Moisture - softens the skin, resulting in less protection. It also reduces the ability of soft socks to smoothly slide on skin, causing more friction.
  • Grit - sand, dirt, gravel in your boot will increase the friction in concentrated spots, generating more heat.
So, to prevent blisters, all you need to do is remove dirt, moisture, and heat from your feet. Keep your feet cool, dry, and clean. Following the Feet Conditioning and Feet Protection tips above will do that.

How to Treat Blister

  • If the blister has not torn and is full of liquid, pierce it from the side with a sterile needle at its base. Let all the fluid run out.
  • If the blister has torn already, carefully cut away the loose skin of the blister and treat the area with antiseptic.
  • Allow the blister to dry and harden in the open air for as long as you can.
  • When you need to resume hiking, put a bandaid or gauze over a torn blister.
  • Put a layer of moleskin over the blister area. You may cut a doughnut shaped piece of moleskin that fits around the blister rather than directly on it.
  • Check the blister at each stop and give it as much time to dry off as you can whenever you can. Keep it clean and sterilized to prevent infection.
  • Do not pierce intact blisters that are deep, rather than just the top few layers of skin. Just apply a moleskin doughnut to relieve the friction and monitor the blister.

1. Keep your feet dry. Wet feet invite blisters and irritation. If they get wet from water or sweat, stop and change to dry socks if you have them.

2. Wear two layers of socks. The first should be a thin wick-away sock that wicks or removes moisture from the foot. The second should be a heavier sock that cushions the foot. Avoid cotton socks which keep moisture next to the skin.

3. Carry spare socks. If your socks get wet, you'll want spares. Fresh socks help cushion the feet and reduce foot fatigue.

4. Carry a first aid kit to treat blisters or foot injuries. The kit should include blister pads, antibiotic ointment, sterile gauze, band-aids, etc.

5. Promptly treat any signs of a beginning blister or chafed skin. The first signs are tenderness and a sense of burning, commonly known as a "hot spot." Use your first aid kit and blister treatments. The longer you ignore it, the worse it will get, to the point it can become almost impossible to keep hiking.

6. Choose the right boot. Select boots that fit properly and will provide the support and protection you need for the most difficult trail you're going to hike. Boots without proper support increase the risk of injury. Boots that are too tight pinch and chafe, causing blisters and pain.

7. Break in your boots before taking a long hike to avoid blisters and raw spots. New boots, particularly leather ones, take time to break in. Take several 1 to 2 hour hikes. You can soften leather using boot grease or leather conditioner

Jabal el Cheikh…

A trip organized as mentioned on www.baldati.com only for wou7ouch Baldati…

What can I say!

I’ve waited this day for so long. How can I describe it? My senses and my feelings are so contradictory.

Did I enjoy it? Did I like the rocky & dead sceneries going up the mountain? Did I like the snow & green areas while going down to Rachaya?

Jabal el Cheikh is a trip that brings together all nature factors, all hidden feelings, and all physical actions.

I even heard someone tired saying that seeing the sunset & than the stars made her appreciate the day more and more.

Jabal el Cheikh, in one expression, is a wonderful tiring hiking experience of no end trips.
