Samir Rachid Sawaya,

 peintre et restaurateur libanais, né le 7 Janvier 1947
Il a commencé à dessiner depuis son plus jeune âge. Il a Participé en 1964 à la galerie des artistes de la région de Batroun, qui a eu lieu à Batroun. Depuis lors, il a été considéré comme un professionnel, et conseillé par de nombreux artistes et intellectuels de ne pas rejoindre l'Académie à cause de la force de son talent.

Il a également participé le premier mai 1979 au festival d’Achrafieh et a remporté le prix. Il a représenté le Liban au Festival des jeunes arabes à Marrakech.

En 1979, il a réalisé sa propre exposition dans le Hall de la Culture à Antélias, intitulé «Le Liban et l'histoire". Depuis, il a été considéré comme l’artiste de la résistance par excellence. Par suite il réalisé plusieurs expositions et a réparé plus d’une douzaine d'églises dans différentes régions du Liban

He began drawing from an early age. In 1964, he participated in the gallery of artists of Batroun region, which took place in Batroun. Since then, it was considered a professional, and advised by many artists and intellectuals not to join the Academy because of the strength of his talent.

He also participated on the first of May, 1979 in Achrafieh Festival and won. He represented Lebanon in the Arab Youth Festival in Marrakech.

In 1979, he made his own exhibition in the Hall of Culture in Antelias, entitled "Lebanon and history." He has since been regarded as the artist of resistance. As a result he made several exhibitions and has repaired more than a dozen churches in different regions of Lebanon
